Fluid near wheel: <\/strong>If you have a brake fluid leak, you might see fluid around the wheel. Brake fluid can be brown, clear or yellow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where can brake fluid leak?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are a number of places across the braking system where leaks could make an appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These areas include brake lines and hoses, as well as calipers. Brake fluid leaks can also show up at fittings and the master cylinder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only time that you can have an internal brake fluid leak is behind the master cylinder and brake booster. In those cases, we have to remove the master cylinder to inspect this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s important that brake fluid leaks are resolved as soon as possible. Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reason number one \u2013 they are a safety concern. You shouldn\u2019t use a vehicle if you think brake fluid is leaking, because it may impact the brake pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These leaks are one of the items our technicians check for when performing a Virginia Safety Inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You also don\u2019t want to ignore brake fluid leaks because they could lead to additional repairs down the road. Brake fluid can ruin parts, due to its corrosive nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
