It became a <a href=\"https:\/\/hometowneautorepairandtireofwoodbridge.com\/blog\/auto-repair-tire-virginia-deq-certified-emissions-repair-facility\/\"><strong>Virginia Certified Emissions Repair Facility<\/strong><\/a> in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens during an emission test?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We confirm details about the car, including its weight and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When testing a vehicle that\u2019s older than 1996, inspectors use a sniffer tool that\u2019s put inside the tailpipe. They also check for various components, including the catalytic converter, O2 sensors and the Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We use an OBD II connection device on newer cars. The DEQ computer plugs into the OBD II port on the car and checks for problem codes and system monitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those monitors can include the EVAP system, catalyst (catalytic converter), 02 sensors, the EGR system, Oxygen Sensor Heater and secondary air system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What can cause you to be rejected for testing?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are a few ways you can be rejected for getting an emission test: if there are bald tires, an audible exhaust leak, or fluid that\u2019s dripping on the dyno machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why does that matter?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have to make sure the vehicle is safe to run on the dyno, in case the DEQ requires it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HomeTowne Auto Repair &amp; Tire is an authorized Michelin and BFGoodrich tire dealer located in Woodbridge, Virginia.
