It spools up and sends more air into the air intake, creating more power \u2014 also known as \u201cboost\u201d. More power equals more heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A heat exchanger is needed to lower the intake air temperatures, which can prevent damage to the engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Air to water intercoolers are used on drag racing cars. Those using them will add ice to the intercooler, so the intake air temperature becomes even cooler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our work on the Audi A4<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Audi was brought in when the check engine turned on. It had a running rich code.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The technician disconnected the intake tube from the throttle body. He performed a smoke test and smoke started pouring out of the intercooler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some type of impact caused the air leak.
